Never purchase a dog from a pet shop. 99% of dogs sold at pet shops are from puppy mills no matter what they say! No reputable breeder would need to or want to sell their dogs through a shop. Dogs for sale on the internet and in newspaper ads are usually from puppy mills as well. The only place to get a dog is a rescue, shelter or reputable breeder. For those of you who are local to me, did you know that Lancaster County is the puppy mill capital of the East coast? The Amish have many admirable qualities, but their concern for animals is generally not one of them.
